i, too, wanted to prove it right. so, i was shocked and dismayed at what i found. now, i'm glad to know the "truth" and take it from there.

Is everyone bitter against JW's?
by Redneckgurl ini have to post this question, because as i was trying so hard to talk to my husband about what i am learning and what others are saying, he is saying i am not doing this objectively at all, and only hearing things from bitter exjw's who are angry at the org for something.
i say this isn't true, i wasn't searching for answers due to a negative occurance in my life, and i don't believe everyone here was either.
he says i am only emotional about this, and trying to find reasons to prove all the things i have learned as wrong.

More conditional, emotional blackmail...business as usual for the Duds
by Maverick inmy daughter is graduating from high school next month.
she has lived with me all her life.
her mother, a good and faithful dud, ran off with a 'worldly' co-worker five years ago.

Theft of Identity from the Borg
by Yizuman ini had a thought for most of the ex-jws who spent most of their lives in the borg.
for those who left the borg, has anyone stopped and think, "who am i really supposed to be apart from the borg?".
have you ever wondered what your life would have been like if you had never been a jw?

How bad did Worldly people treat you when you were a JW?
by El Kabong ini grew up in the society and had the pleasure .
some worldly people would actually hit jw'w because they did not salute the flag.
(this in a country that prides itself on freedom of religion).

people were very tolerant until i left college. then people would smile a lot around me - like i was crazy. or try not to be around me - like they would catch something. just recently, before i realized my folly, some neighbors invited me and hubby over. but, my husband and i knew we were being invited only to see if the jw was cool. i felt like i was on stage. when they cursed - they apologized, like they were in the presence of god. other times when holidays were around, they would say happy,,,,(whatever) and when i said i didn't celebrate, they replied...oh, i'm sorry...like they felt bad for me. oh well, i'm having fun saying happy...back, now.

The Knock at the Door After the Prayer
by stevieb1 inthis experience is commoly related by jehovah's witnesses:.
a man or woman is desperately searching for "the truth" or someone is about to give up on life but before they do they utter a prayer to god and lo and behold a knock is heard on the door and behind the door are jehovah's witnesses.. these experiences are used by jw's to confirm angelic direction on their work and seems to reinforce in them that they have the "truth".. how does one argue against such personal experience?.
i am no longer a jw and no longer support their organizational teachings by the way, but i'd like to throw out the above question to you all for comment and consideration.. .

to continue narunaruchans thought...if it's satans guidance, he's guiding his demons to people. guiding them to something as far from what god wants as possible. the wbts.

Burial or Cremation?
by Francois ini got the idea for this thread from one jessika posted and which contained a response from dede.. which form of final resting place do you prefer and why?
personally, i want to be cremated and have my ashes scattered at a particular place on the beach on deserted st. catherine's island, a barrier island on the georgia coast.
my children could get there by boat (the only way) and visit my spirit there - even though i know my spirit won't be there, i believe that somehow i will know they're there and what they're saying.. being buried in a box six feet under to lie in the same position througout all eternity doesn't appeal to me in the least.

cremated. why? have you seen a dead body in the movies? yuck. plus it's cheaper. don't know yet where i'll be scattered.

Jesus Resurection, Voodoo trick or for real?
by seedy3 ini just watched a program about voodoo magic, one point they discussed was the zombies.
the voodoo witchdoctors have the ability to give a person a poison that slows down the bodies system funtions so slow that even modern medical equipment can not pick it up, then a little later when no one is looking they go out dig up the "body" and resurect them.
now given this point is it at all possible?
